Post-Secondary and Higher Education

If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.

St. Joseph is perfectly positioned for post-secondary and higher education. Missouri Western State University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate level programs, as does nearby Northwest Missouri State University. UMKC School of Medicine also has a facility in St. Joseph, training future physicians in rural medicine.

Missouri Western:  Where everything is possible!

As Missouri’s official applied learning university, MoWest gives students opportunities to gain real-world experience before graduation. This means students are engaged in hands-on learning opportunities and our city reaps the benefits. Every day, MoWest students are in our city’s classrooms, health care facilities, businesses and more – applying their skills and helping meet the needs of citizens.

The Houlne Center for Convergent Technology opened in 2024, providing practical instruction in skilled manufacturing and construction professions and related service technologies like AI, robotics, and cybersecurity.

St. Joseph: A City of Makers

North Central Missouri College offers certificates, two-year degree programs, and transfer degrees to the Northwest region of the state.  With a location in Savannah, Mo., NCMC has eased the pressure of commuting and attending classes around a busy schedule.  It provides students in the area with a community college option, one that will follow the same academic standards as its main campus in Trenton, Mo.
