Missouri Western:  Where everything is possible!

Griffons Succeed at Missouri Western

Whatever your passions and career goals, Missouri Western is a small university with big opportunities. As Missouri’s official applied learning university, Missouri Western State University gives students opportunities to gain real-world experience before graduation. This means students are engaged in hands-on learning opportunities and our city reaps the benefits. Every day, Missouri Western students are in our city’s classrooms, health care facilities, businesses and more – applying their skills and helping meet the needs of citizens.

The Houlne Center for Convergent Technology opened in 2024, providing practical instruction in skilled manufacturing and construction professions and related service technologies like AI, robotics, and cybersecurity.

St. Joseph: A City of Makers

Hillyard Technical Center offers a variety of courses to help students pursue their dreams in technical fields. Hillyard offers courses in carpentry, welding, precision machining, computer-aided drafting and more. Hillyard partners with MWSU on the Manufacturing Technician Certification (MT1), which allows those who pass to more quickly obtain good-paying jobs with local employers in manufacturing.

North Central Missouri College offers certificates, two-year degree programs, and transfer degrees to the Northwest region of the state.  With a location in Savannah, Mo., NCMC has eased the pressure of commuting and attending classes around a busy schedule.  It provides students in the area with a community college option, one that will follow the same academic standards as its main campus in Trenton, Mo.
