St. Joseph: A City of Makers
Hillyard Technical Center offers a variety of courses to help students pursue their dreams in manufacturing with courses in carpentry, welding, precision machining, computer-aided drafting and more. Hillyard partners with MWSU on the Manufacturing Technician Certification (MT1), which allows those who pass to more quickly obtain good-paying jobs with local employers in manufacturing.
Missouri Western State University spans more than 700 acres in St. Joseph, Mo., and was founded in 1915. Missouri Western became a full member of the State of Missouri system in 1977. In 2005, the institution received full university designation and changed its name to Missouri Western State University. Today, Missouri Western offers certificates, associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees across high-demand fields. What do students say? North Central Missouri College offers certificates, two-year degree programs, and transfer degrees to the Northwest region of the state. Its new, North Belt site was established to help ease the pressure of commuting and attending classes around a busy schedule. It provides students in the area with a community college option, one that will follow the same academic standards as its main campus in Trenton, Mo.
The Missouri Western Western Institute offers specialized classes and courses in degrees and non-degree areas, with a range of course schedules. Check out programs in areas like criminal justice, law enforcement, music, sign language and volunteer training.
